I come to work every day knowing that I don’t have to be intimidated by anyone because of the colour of my skin. I get to write emails that start or end with greetings or farewells in the Samoan language, and people embrace it as well when they respond. People respect me when I respect my culture and it’s great.
This internship has given me the opportunity to meet many inspiring and passionate people that I can aspire to be one day. Genesis Energy is full of hard-working people that have given great advice like ‘taking risks’, ‘never being afraid to voice your opinions’ and ‘always finding that support person you can go to’. I am confident that, when heading into a future career in marketing, Genesis Energy has pointed me in the right direction.
