I take my Pasifika culture with me wherever I go. I have never seen it as something that is not to be embraced or compromised to fit in with a majority or mainstream around us. I think that by just being at Spark and being seen is a big part of injecting some Pasifika into a workplace traditionally dominated by non-Pasifika and non-Māori.
This internship has given me a greater insight into the type of profession I would like to get into. The practical experience and connections we make in the internship are invaluable to us and it’s a great launching pad for a future career. It has given me so much more knowledge on the IT world and how it operates.
