I embraced my culture by being me. When greeting people in person I will say, “Kia Ora” or “Talofa”, and I will do similarly on emails. People from my culture are generally known for their positive attitudes and hardworking work ethic, which I displayed every day.
This internship has has taught me that there is much work to be done within the Diversity & Inclusion sector, and that I can contribute to the corporate world by practicing as a psychologist with a critical eye. I would like to facilitate better opportunities for Pasifika & Māori within lower/non-graded roles to progress into corporate roles by changing the way we shape the selection process.
