In the office we refer to our partner kaupapa as a moving feast. It is dynamic, ever increasing, exponential. In our first year of operations 29 interns received a placement across 20 partners. Year 2 saw 74 interns placed amongst 29 partners. This year, 150+ students will intern at one of 60+ partners across our 3 regions.
An additional development in our partner network is our global alliances with brother organisations including : CareerTrackers - Australia, INROADs – America, Canada and Mexico. We have also partnered with the Asia New Zealand Foundation; providing two fully funded internship opportunities into Asia this Summer.
“The Asia New Zealand Foundation is looking to grow our engagement with tāngata whenua. Our research on New Zealanders’ Perceptions of Asia and Asian People in Te Ao Māori shows 60 percent of Māori recognise the importance of developing ties with Asia and that Māori benefit from cultural and economic ties."
“Our business internships programme enables New Zealand students and recent graduates to attain a unique first-hand experience of living and working in Asia and the knowledge they gain and connections they build have a strong positive impact on their future."
“We look forward to working with TupuToa and building on our respective strengths – TupuToa’s understanding of the needs of Māori and Pasifika students and the Asia New Zealand Foundation’s reach into Asia - to deliver tailored internship opportunities which help equip our Māori and Pasifika young people for a stronger future in and with Asia.”
We expect international internship opportunities will increase as we expand our global alliances.
