Our TupuToa navigators are in the throes of selecting and matching applicants to the internship opportunities we have received. This year we partnered with Talent Solutions to create a selection process that would accommodate the intended growth of our cohort whilst retaining the magic of TupuToa – the face-to-face, the phone korero, looking deeper and beyond the GPA, and doing all of this in the most mana enhancing way for our rangatahi. Our interns are more than a grade point average. We have evidenced this each year with our interns. Take Wynona or Falcon for example – TupuToa success stories.
When applications opened, we received over 600 applications. Of the 600+ our team of navigators carried out 550 phone korero’s. From which, 450 applicants were selected to attend a Discovery Centre – the TupuToa equivalent of an assessment centre. And approximately 220 will progress into the internship programme over the Summer. Our Discovery Centre’s include a personal development piece (45 min), 2 x face-to-face interviews, and a group activity. Not every applicant is going to be successful, we want to ensure that we decline applicants in a mana enhancing way. We invite unsuccessful applicants to attend a further 2 professional development workshops, and a select number are given an opportunity to join our TupuAke programme.
