Kirihimete Cocktail 2020 - Wellington
Early this month Kirihimete celebrations continued with our TupuToa whanau in the capital. The evening was hosted by TupuToa major partner, Suncorp, in their Wellington Headquarters. The evening began with a word from interns, Ripine Tito-Stanley who is interning with the Department of Corrections and Georgia Ransfield who is interning with Sharesies this Summer.
Jane Brewer, Executive General Manager of Technology & Transformation at Suncorp, opened the evening followed by Leopino Foliaki, TupuToa Board Co-chair and Partner at PwC. Kelly Winyard, Senior Adviser in Talent Acquisition at the Reserve Bank of New Zealand then addressed us followed by some music and canapés to allow time to network. TupuToa interns received their business cards on the evening; we encouraged them to work the room and hand them out.
Matariki Totoro, TupuToa alumnus and Projects Coordinator at the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment had some excellent retrospective advice to impart with our tauira. Deputy Chief Executive of the Ministry for Pacific Peoples, Tofilau Iris Webster, shared an inspiring address and some sober advice for our interns as they embark on their corporate careers. The chief of our waka, Anne Fitisemanu, closed the evening with an exciting announcement of a new digital initiative with Microsoft set to launch soon and funding received from SkyCity Community Trust.
